“Head Start Made Me Believe in Myself.”
Lee Brown was a battered wife and mother of three young boys when she discovered Head Start. Now, as a result of that connection and more than 18 years of hard work, her three sons have graduated from high school, one from college. And, Lee worked her way off welfare and up the Head Start organization, serving as a Teacher Assistant, Team Teacher, then Office Specialist and finally Information Technology Specialist for Head Start of Shawnee Mission, Kansas Inc.
